What to do in Franciacorta in summer: Wineries, Art, and Lake Iseo
Discover the Carlo D’Orta exhibition at Montina and experience summer in Franciacorta.
What makes a winery experience truly unforgettable? For us at Montina, the answer lies in awakening all the senses: the taste and aroma of a glass of Franciacorta, the beauty of our rolling hills, and the emotion of great contemporary art.
If you are looking for a cultural activity in Franciacorta that seamlessly pairs a passion for wine with an inspiring artistic journey, our estate has just added a new, unmissable highlight to its contemporary art gallery.
The Exhibition: Carlo D’Orta and “Painting with the Camera”
Through the end of August, our gallery walls will host an exclusive selection of works by Carlo D’Orta, an internationally acclaimed artist recently awarded at the 2026 London Photography Awards and featured in the latest Atlante Arte Contemporanea by Giunti.
D’Orta’s artistic project is an invitation to slow down and look beneath the surface through an intricate web of lines, shapes, and the geometry of light and shadow. The artist does not use the lens to document or report; instead, he uses the camera as a paintbrush, extracting abstract and metaphysical imagery from reality—scenes that actually exist, yet our eyes rarely manage to see.
No digital tricks or heavy post-production are involved: these geometric intersections are purely the result of perspective and the artist’s unique ability to “make the invisible visible.” Printed in very limited editions on large plexiglass and aluminum sheets, the artworks deliver a striking, modern visual impact that blends beautifully with the atmosphere of our cellars.
A Special Event: Meet the Artist in the Cellar on Sunday, July 5th
There is one perfect date to plan your next winery tour and tasting: Sunday, July 5th.
On this special day, artist Carlo D’Orta will be present in person at the Montina gallery to introduce the exhibition. Guests joining our guided tours will have the unique opportunity to speak with the artist, uncover the secrets behind his award-winning photographs, and stroll through the gallery with a glass of Franciacorta in hand.
It is an experience that effortlessly blends culture and wine tourism, designed for those who look beyond first impressions, seeking in every glass a moment to share and remember.
Summer between Franciacorta and Lake Iseo: Coolness, Nature, and Relaxation
Montina’s strategic location, just a few miles from the shores of Lake Iseo, makes our winery the ideal stop to include in a day of summer exploration.
In the summer months, Franciacorta offers endless possibilities to recharge and enjoy the outdoors:
Lake Adventures: A boat trip to Monte Isola, a sailing session, or a romantic stroll along the lakefront in Iseo and Sarnico.
Sport and Nature: Hiking or e-bike excursions along the scenic trails of the Torbiere del Sebino nature reserve or through sun-kissed vineyards.
And after a morning spent basking in the summer sun, there is nothing better than escaping into the heart of our estate.
Stepping down into Montina’s historic cellars means leaving the heat behind and immersing yourself in the natural coolness of our underground galleries, where the bottles rest in the dark at a constant temperature. It is a refreshing sanctuary for body and soul, perfectly topped off with a tasting of our Franciacorta wines paired with a light aperitif—capturing all the crispness and elegance of summer in a single glass.
We look forward to welcoming you for a summer filled with art, freshness, and great wine.
